Family of Month January 2012
Jan and Deena Bessette have been selected as our Family of the Month. Jan and Deena have been wonderful supporters of our parish, and took the leadership for our recent KofC 25th Anniversary celebration activities.
Robert (Bob) Chiplock has been selected as our Knight of the Month. Bob is a Knight that knows the meaning of the word service, and was remarkably effective in raising additional funds for our recent Persons with Intellectual Disabilities Drive.
Brother Knights,

Happy New Year!  We spoke at our January meeting about reflection, and I want to stay on that point for this month’s comment.

We’ve really had great progress for the first half of the year, and everyone should be proud of our accomplishments.  We’re a small parish, a bit off the beaten path, and yet each year we do remarkable work.  That work happens because of each of you, and your commitment to service.

In the first half of the fraternal year, we had excellent program results for the Frontline Faith effort and our annual Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities Drive.  Our semi-annual Blood Drive and annual Yard Sale were equally productive.  We also completed the Free-Throw contest with good results.  Finally, we were able to triple our attendance to the Crossroads Pregnancy Center Banquet, and we had a great turnout for our 25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner.  Adding all that up, along with smaller support items, some parish cleanup, and additional financial support for the Pastor, we finished the year in a great position to move into 2012.

I’m also optimistic about some administrative initiatives we are taking to improve our communications and our financial process.  Going forward we will center our communications on the email addresses in the Supreme Data Base System.  We will also being using the email system along with a new electronic ledger processes in the next billing and reporting cycle.  While we expect some initial bumps and additional work, this should save considerable time and effort in the future.

Lastly, as we look forward to the work ahead in 2012, I’d ask each of you to think about how we can best sustain and grow our membership.  With membership in the Knights of Columbus, we have quite a gift to offer our non-member parishioners.  Take a moment and look at how you can help all our members stay involved with the Knights, and how we can find the next great class of new recruits.

Vivat Jesu!

GK John
